Moreton to the Mill

Please join us in celebrations of this new art exhibition by Renata Buziak & Zoë Wolfe, which opens on the International Women’s Day at Studio Wolfe in Bardon, Brisbane.

Moreton to the Mill is a celebration of place from the marine sanctuaries and vibrant shores of Moreton Bay to the Piano Mill and its surrounding nature reserve in Northern New South Wales’ Granite Belt. Buziak and Wolfe explore these treasured spaces in a new collection of cyanotypes, biochromes, and hand drawn patterns.

Renata Buziak

I am a photomedia artist, researcher and educator, helping people to reconnect with the natural world. My PhD research focused on medicinal plants of Minjerribah, and my recent art residency on Gondwanan lineage plants at Binna Burra, surrounded by the World Heritage Rainforest in Lamington National Park.

This exhibition features biochrome images of the Granite Belt wildflowers, and cyanotypes, toned to the copper colour of the Mill, presenting traces of flora and some of the essence that makes the Mill – the Piano Mill, including piano detritus (such as strings and hammers). The Piano Mill, established by The Harrigan Lane Collective, is a structure/instrument hosting 16 pianos, on a property where annual public events and art residencies take place.

Zoë Wolfe

I am an emerging artist with a background in sustainability and graphic design. My pen and paper drawings reflect my interest in the natural environment with leafy motifs and special attention to native flora and fauna. A unique marriage of botanical illustration and lino print influence my drawings. I draw with a tendency towards obsessive patterning inspired by years of doodling during lectures.

This exhibition shares a small glimpse into Moreton Bay’s abundant vegetation and wildlife. You can view Zoë’s work on her Intagram.
