“Island Awakening: Discover Your Wellbeing with Stradbroke’s Wisdom Keepers”

Nourish your soul. Reconnect with nature. Gather with community.
Join us for a rejuvenating One Day Retreat at Point Lookout Hall, nestled near the dunes of Home Beach on Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island).

This unique event is co-created by island residents and friends — Jo Fay Duncan, Josephine Ellis, Kat Ford, Lisa Iselin, Moira Moodley, and Clara Durbidge — a vibrant collective of artisans, meditation and yoga teachers, and healers dedicated to sharing the island’s wisdom.

🌿 What’s in the Program:

  • movement and meditation, sound and ceremony, healing workshops and wellbeing activities.
  • buffet lunch of vegetarian cuisine
  • healing arts

Why Join us?

  • Explore a range of meditation practices such as mantra, visualisation and pranayam
  • Experience a choice of movement based practices such as yoga, qigong & pilates
  • Welcome healing into your life with ceremony, sound & group work

Whether you’re an island resident or visiting for the day — you are warmly welcome here. This retreat is designed for both adults and young people (or the young at heart!).

🌿 Biochrome art at the Retreat’s Healing Art Market

I’m excited to share my biochrome art for the first time at a wellbeing retreat. This display features selected works from several of my key series:

  • Medicinal Plant Cycles – focusing on Minjerribah’s medicinal plants, developed through art-science research and community consultation during my PhD
  • Wildflowers of the Granite Belt – capturing native flora from years of creative work at the Piano Mill property
  • Gondwanan Plant Series – created during my recent artist residency at Binna Burra

Also available at the market:

  • Greeting cards and postcards featuring native flora
  • Publications exploring art, science, and the cycle of life
  • Handmade velvet brooches
  • Velvet Illuminants – my newest functional artworks combining repurposed hardwood and plant-based art to softly illuminate your interiors in harmony with nature

This is a wonderful opportunity to experience my biochrome art, which fuses photographic materials and organic matter to reflect the metamorphic power of decay and regeneration.

🌞 Cyanotype Workshop: Hands-On with Nature

In conjunction with the retreat, I’m also offering a cyanotype workshop — a chance to reconnect with nature through a hands-on alternative photography process.

Together, we’ll collect local flora, compose them on photosensitive paper, and create unique blue-and-white sun prints. This workshop celebrates the creativity and simplicity of working with natural elements.
