Take your cyanotype skills to the next level in this Advanced Cyanotype Workshop

In a relaxed atmosphere, and a small group of participants, learn several advanced techniques to apply to your cyanotype printing. Receive expert guidance and knowledge that will empower you to continue exploring cyanotype prints at home.

In this workshop you will:

  • create unique artwork on paper (various sizes) and on a calico bag;
  • coat your own paper and calico; 
  • experiment with wet cyanotype printing and applying colour; 
  • explore bleaching and toning;

Through this guided hands-on experience you will gain an advanced set of skills. You will be able to confidently experiment and create images where your own input, control and creativity will lead to the development of your own style of cyanotype image making.

Materials:

All materials provided: cyanotype supplies, paper, calico bag (other materials including silk scarves available at extra cost), plant cuttings, found objects.

*Bring your own small objects, jewellery, or plant cuttings for a personal touch. 

What to bring:

  • An apron (please wear old / clothing that could get stained).
  • Covered, non-slip footwear.
  • A hat / umbrella, sunscreen, a water bottle.

Food and drinks:

Morning tea will be provided. Please bring your own lunch.

This workshop is suitable for teens (15+) and adults, with any beginner’s experience.

About Renata: 

Dr Renata Buziak is a biochrome photo-media artist, researcher, and educator with over 15 years of teaching experience. 

With a focus on plant life and helping people to reconnect with nature, her captivating artwork has been exhibited nationally and internationally. Renata holds a PhD from Queensland College of Art, Griffith University. Her art has received several awards and is featured in private and public collections, on ABC TV’s Gardening Australia, and at Binna Burra Lodge since her inaugural art residency there in 2022.
