Hill End Analogue Photography Festival

I’m pleased to share that I’ll be exhibiting as part of the Hill End Analogue Photography Festival 2025, in the historic village of Hill End, NSW, on Wiradjuri Country.

The festival brings together 40 contemporary artists from across Australia and overseas, presenting over 200 analogue photographic works that respond to the theme: FUGITIVE.

About my series of lumen prints in the Festival:

Fugitive Flora: Impressions of Light, Life and Loss

Created during a residency at BigCi (Bilpin International Grounds for Creative Initiatives) in the Blue Mountains, this series of lumen prints reflects my ongoing dialogue with nature through analogue photographic processes.

Using silver gelatine paper and the transformative power of sunlight, I worked with native bush tucker plants gathered from the land, including: Smilax glyciphylla, Viola hederacea, Pteridium esculentum, Lomandra longifolia, and Dodonaea triquetra.

These fleeting images echo the impermanence of all living things. Their subtle forms, captured in slow, solar exposures, speak of the ephemeral-of light, decay, and the quiet rhythms of the natural world. Like the plants themselves, the prints change over time, reminding us of the fragility of the ecosystems that support our well- being.

This work honours the cycle of life and the deep connections between land, body and spirit. It is a meditation on care: for our environment, for ourselves, and for the often unseen relationships that sustain both. In this fragile, hands-on process, I find a sense of grounding and belonging-and I invite others to reconnect with nature, before more of it becomes fugitive.

FUGITIVE: Impermanent, Elusive, Fleeting, Transitory…
