Created for Lagavulin — the bespoke concert venue at Harrigans Lane, home of the renowned Piano Mill — this series of custom textile panels features native wildflowers from Queensland’s Granite Belt region. Developed on the forested property where annual gatherings of experimental music and art are held, these works emerged in response to a space alive with creative exchange and sonic exploration.
Weathered Continuum I, II & IIIwere especially inspired by the architectural beauty of Lagavulin and Erik Griswold’s evocative composition Hollows Out of Time. The venue’s pastel-coloured stone, raw concrete, and soft timber finishes, along with the meditative tone of Erik’s in-progress work, shaped the quiet rhythm and earthy palette of this series. The first edition of these three pieces now lives permanently at Lagavulin, enriching the atmosphere of rest and reflection into which music gently flows.
The wildflowers featured include Chrysocephalum apiculatum (Yellow buttons), Xerochrysum bracteatum (Golden everlasting), Wahlenbergia graniticola (Granite bluebell), Geranium neglectum (Swamp cranesbill), and Desmodium gunnii (Slender tick trefoil) — gathered near the site of the venue.
Created through my signature biochrome process — which fuses photographic materials with organic matter over time — these textiles embody the natural cycles of decay, renewal, and belonging. A celebration of Australian flora, Weathered Continuum is also a meditation on connection: with place, with others, and with nature’s ever-changing rhythms.
This series is printed in a limited edition of three, with a small number of works available via my Textiles Category in the online store.
