Afterimage Series – Abstract Biochrome Art
The Afterimage series features abstract biochrome images inspired by childhood memories of my time in Poland—memories shaped by imagination, dreams, and new experiences.
These recollections capture vivid moments, such as countryside trips, exploring forests and lakes, harvesting vegetables and fruit from the backyard, feeling the heat and scent of bonfires and hay, and walking to school through snow-covered fields.
The artwork ‘Morning Frost’ reflects joyful moments of beautiful, exquisite patterns on frosted windows during cold winter mornings.
Medium and Process: Created using my signature biochrome process, this series blends organic materials with photographic techniques over time, revealing patterns of growth and decay. The results highlight nature’s transformation and its connection to memory.
The Afterimage series evokes nostalgia, curiosity, and wonder, inviting viewers to reflect on their own memories and connections to nature.
Reconnect with nature and rediscover stories of childhood through these artworks.
The Afterimage monograph, featuring an essay by Dr Victoria Garnons-Williams, was published in 2010 by the Queensland Centre of Photography in Brisbane.
