🌿 Aqua Understory is part of my Wildflowers of the Granite Belt series — a body of work created on a richly forested bush property at Wilsons Downfall, near Stanthorpe, the home of the renowned Piano Mill.
This piece was developed using my signature biochrome process, where flora and photographic materials interact over several weeks. Leaves and flowers — once almost invisible in the natural understory — are transformed through the process of organic decay, emerging boldly in the final composition.
The image reveals hidden rhythms of renewal in the Australian landscape, where cycles of decay and regeneration leave their trace. Aqua Understory is a quiet collaboration with nature, where biology meets photography, and the ephemeral becomes enduring.
With deep hues and soft textures, this textile radiates gentle energy. The print was most recently featured at the launch exhibition of the new Everton Park Library, bringing the forest into the public space as a calming, immersive presence.
