The Imaginary Aviary – The Piano Mill Event by Harrigans Lane Collective

Vanessa Tomlinson’s Imaginary Aviary is a chance to listen to a soundscape from the future – 8 new bird species that will appear in 10 years, 50 years, 500 years’ time. What do they sound like? What could future birdsong be?

– I’m thrilled that my textile of Bolwarra, one of the Gondwanan leniage plants from Binna Burra, will be featured in this year’s Piano Mill event. The costume originally designed by Jan Baker-Finch for the Gondwanan Echoes performance by Bloom Collective, will be worn by Jan herself. Watch Gondwanan Echoes

What is The Piano Mill?:

“A Piano Mill is a hybrid building and musical instrument, designed and purpose-built to house sixteen reclaimed pianos in a tower structure. Constructed in Northern New South Wales, Australia, it was designed by architect Bruce Wolfe specifically for composer Erik Griswold in 2016” (www.wikipedia.com).
