Works from the Maranoa on Gunggari Country

This collection brings together biochromes, cyanotypes and illuminated sculptures created through my involvement with the Yimbaya Maranoa Arts Collective on Gunggari Country.

Developed during arts camps along the Maranoa River, the works explore native plants, waterways and the relationships between people, plants, photographic materials and Country. Many feature medicinal and culturally significant plants, while others respond to the broader ecology and stories of the Maranoa landscape.

Acknowledgement

I extend my heartfelt thanks to Gunggari Traditional Custodian Saraeva Mitchell for generously welcoming me to learn on Country and for sharing knowledge of plants, culture and place over many years. I am deeply grateful to Saraeva and her mother, Aunty Lynette Nixon, whose guidance and generosity have profoundly shaped this body of work.
